Danyel Surrency Jones is a visionary, global business strategist, and serial entrepreneur with nearly three decades of experience scaling innovation across Fortune 500 companies and global startup ventures. Her career spans healthcare, technology, sports and entertainment, and real estate. Through her companies, she builds scalable ecosystems that prioritize brand equity, ownership, and generational wealth—contributing to over $100 billion in aggregate revenue.
Danyel is a rare hybrid of operator and innovator—uniquely positioned at the intersection of corporate scale and entrepreneurial disruption. As a former executive at Amazon, she led Small Business Programs within Amazon Worldwide Stores, where she and her team drove growth strategies for thousands of small business sellers. Her work spans business development, marketing, merchandising, and product classification technology—leading high-impact programs like Amazon’s Black Business Accelerator (BBA), Oprah’s Favorite Things, Prime Day, and National Small Business Month.
Prior to Amazon, Danyel was the Co-Founder and CEO of POWERHANDZ Inc., a sports technology company she launched from ideation to global commercialization in over 180 countries. Under her leadership, POWERHANDZ built multi-billion-dollar sales channels, patented technology, and ultimately exited through a tender offer and strategic merger.
In addition to her executive role, Danyel is the Founder & Chief Strategist of DSJ Strategy Group Strategy Built for Legacy, where she serves as a fractional Chief Executive/Strategy Officer (CEO/CSO) and fractional Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) to entrepreneurs, athletes, and enterprises (including 501c3s). Her experience as an inventor and founder sharpened her commitment to equity, innovation, and ownership.
Before becoming an entrepreneur, Danyel spent nearly two decades with Medtronic and Philips Medical Systems, where she led initiatives as Executive Director over National Accounts, Integrated Marketing & Communications, and Product Development—delivering solutions for complex conditions in radiology imaging, diabetes, otolaryngology, and healthcare disparities. She made history as the first woman elected President of Medtronic’s enterprise sales resource group.
Danyel holds a degree from the University of Central Florida, an MBA from Florida International University, and is a graduate of the Wharton School of Business Marketing Leadership Program. She has been named one of The Root 100 Most Influential Leaders, recognized among the Top 25 Women in Tech, and featured in Forbes, AfroTech, CNBC, Sports Illustrated, Essence, Bloomberg, Vanity Fair, and Black Enterprise.
Her accomplishments have earned her national honors, including Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year, The Root Top 100, Titan Tech Community Hero Award, and the U.S. Black Chamber of Commerce Power 50 Women. Danyel is also an international speaker and delivered a powerful TEDx Talk titled “The Black Elephant in the Room,” where she emphasized the economic potential of small businesses and women-led leadership.
A passionate advocate for entrepreneurship, community, and autism awareness, Danyel serves as a board member for the Marcus Graham Project, Mindful Meditation Ministry, Brian Dawkins Foundation and the Lovejoy School District Strategic Advisory Committee; where she contributes her expertise in strategy, innovation, and community impact. In honor of her son, she founded the Harper Jaz Foundation, a nonprofit that supports autistic families through education, innovation and inclusion.
